The UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation, UAEJJF, has launched the fourth staging of jiu-jitsu world tour, “Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour” for 2018 and 2019. Regarded as the most prestigious Jiu-Jitsu tour in the world, the Grand Slam will be held in five international host cities around the world; with the 2018/2019 season kicking off July 29, in Tokyo, Japan.
Part of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Qualifying Series, “Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Tokyo” will be hosted at Ota Gymnasium, Tokyo from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the finals for Male and Female Adult Black Belt Starting at 3 p.m.
The pre-date weigh ins take place on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m, and the on-date weigh ins will happen on Sunday, July 29th, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Brackets for some divisions can be generated after the weigh in due the excess of Walk Over number.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam® is open to all nationalities, the medalists will be listed in the jiu-jitsu world rankings and cash prizes of more than $110,000 will be awarded to the top athletes of each division. The top three academies will also receive cash prizes and top ranked competitors will receive prizes at the end of the season according to the UAEJJF World Ranking.
Medals will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each division. Prize money awarded will range from $500 to $2,500 in several categories, including juvenile, adult and masters, from blue, purple, brown and black categories for both men and women.
