Set to take place in Dubai this summer (August), Phoenix 9 card is shaping up to be a sizeable event, as a second title will be on the line when Anas Siraj Mounir takes on Majdeddine Ayadi for the vacant Phoenix lightweight world title.
Phoenix founder and president, Chahe Yerevanian, has confirmed the lightweight title fight. The belt was claimed by BJJ standout Davi Ramos (7-2) at Phoenix 1 when he took on Nick Piedmont. Davi went on to sign with UFC where he holds a promotional record of 1-1 to date.
Morocco’s Mounir (6-1) is unbeaten over his last three fights. He earned a unanimous decision victory vs. UK’s highly regarded prospect, Alfie Davis when they fought at Phoenix 4 in December. Fighting out of team Nogueira Dubai, we’ve seen Anas put on a series of impressive performances, showcasing skills in all aspects of the sport. Now, he has the chance to make history with the opportunity of becoming the Phoenix world champion. One thing is for sure, the Moroccan Sensation will have the support of a full on nation when he enters the cage.
Originally from Tunisia, Majdeddine Ayadi will be making a significant promotional debut. Ayadi has an impressive background in mixed martial arts, holding a record of 10-3-0. He is ranked as the number 2 lightweight fighter in France and has fought in several promotions and countries including France, Finland, Switzerland, Germany and the USA. Out of his 10 wins, Ayadi has a scary 8 submission victories. That’s surely something to keep an eye on!
Phoenix 9 will also feature the first ever featherweight title fight between Jordanian fighter Ali Al Qaisi vs. French Algerian Chabane Chaibeddra. Stay tuned as this fight card is growing daily.
