The Kingdom of Bahrain may be a small Island in the Middle East but the noise it has made in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) recently is undeniable. His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s vision of putting Bahrain on the global MMA scene has been translated with numerous achievements, including the historical moment where the UFC cameras have landed in Bahrain to film the upcoming UFC on Fox “Road To The Octagon”.
This serves as a milestone and demonstrates the effectiveness of HH. Sheikh Khalid’s strategy and efforts to place Bahrain on the map of the global sports world, and promotes the Kingdom of Bahrain as the hub for MMA in the region.
The countdown shown “Road To The Octagon” is the promotional show for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Fox that allows fans to follow and discover the unique lives and fierce training camps of the world’s most successful mixed martial artists as they prepare for the spotlight in UFC.
The upcoming UFC on Fox 19: Nurmagomedov Vs Ferguson event will be headlined by the MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov as he marks his comeback to the big league representing none other than Bahrain’s Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa (KHK) MMA team.
Ultimate Fighting Championships “Road To The Octagon” will be filmed in the GULF for the first time ever. This is KHK MMA’s biggest public acknowledgement in the world’s MMA Scene. The team from Fox Sport which is headed by Brady Nasfell, Line Producer of PositiveImage Video, Inc., are already in Bahrain to film UFC On Fox 19 “ Road to the Octagon”. This first time in the Middle East filming will start on February 6, and will feature the inaugural of the KHK MMA gym – the headquarter of KHK fighters, where KHK’s own Nurmagomedov will be on the scene to prep for his upcoming fight in the first part of his training camp.
The UFC camera’s will venture around different areas of the Kingdom of Bahrain, showcasing some of its best spots such as Bab Al Bahrain; a historical building which marks the entrance of the MANAMA Souks, as well as the Financial Harbour; a commercial development project in Manama that hosts the tallest , fully completed twin towers in the Kingdom.
About The Fight
Nurmagomedov Vs Ferguson will serve as a five-round main event that could determine the next UFC lightweight title contender.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) has not competed since UFC on Fox 11 in April 2014. During the event he defeated the current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos via unanimous decision. Overall, “The Eagle” is 6-0 in UFC action.
Ferguson (20-3), meanwhile, has been one of the most active – and successful – fighters in the UFC’s 155-pound (lightweight) class of late. The former The Ultimate Fighter Season 13 winner has won seven straight, most recently defeating Edson Barboza on Dec. 11 at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale.
Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson will appear as the main event of UFC on Fox 19 on April 16 in Tampa, Florida. On the card also Rashad Evens clashes with Mauricio “ Shogun “ Rua and former UFC champion Lyoto Machida faces MMA Veteran Dan Henderson.
