Brave Combat Federation (Brave CF) suffers yet another upset prior to its Brave 13 event taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The only remaining Arab fighter on the card, Mohammad Fakhreddine, made weight earlier today but his opponent was unable to and was hospitalized.
As a result, the three-round catchweight (80KG) fight against Sidney Wheeler, scheduled for tomorrow night (June 9, 2018) inside the SSE Arena in Belfast, is cancelled.
Arabs MMA initially received the news from Abdulkareem Al Selwady, however, and Mohammad Fakhreddine has released a video announcing the mishap.
This is undoubtedly a major misfortune for “The Latest” Fakhreddine, who was inching his way to the winning column. It should be noted that “Fakhreddine” made weight and was ready to fight, yet Wheeler was not medically fit for battle.
It would have been legendary if someone stepped up to take on Fakhreddine on short notice, but the odds are against this fact.
“My opponent unfortunately faced complications while cutting weight to 80Kg. I came prepared for this fight, I trained hard, and even weighed myself 0.5Kg below the weight limit.”
Despite Abdulkarem Al Selwady’s last minute injury, Tarek Suleiman’s unfortunate withdrawl, and on top of that Fakhreddine’s mishap, Brave’s first event in Europe still features a much anticipate title defense as Bantamweight champion Stephen Loman takes on the challenger Frans Mlambo in the main event. The co-main, Myles Price meets Norman Price.
