One of Featherweight division’s most talked about young fighters, Jeremy Kennedy will put his prospect tag on the line against the experienced Danyel Pilò, at Brave 14, on August 18th. Set for The Omnisports Indoor Club, the groundbreaking event will mark the Canadian’s debut for Brave Combat Federation, and Kennedy is aware that 30-year-old Pilò will want to spoil his first fight in his new home. Brave president Mohammed Shahid ranks Jeremy as one of the top prospects in the sport but warns him against complacency when he takes on Italian Pilò.
“Jeremy is 11-1 in his MMA career and fought some of the best guys out there. That makes him one of the top prospects in the world. And he’s fighting a guy that’s 10-1. Even though Jeremy has been involved in more high-profile bouts, he’ll be taking on a tough, tough opponent in Danyel Pilò. I guarantee he’s a tough fight”, explains Shahid.
After going through his first 11 opponents in devastating fashion, mixing takedowns and positional work from top position, Kennedy is coming off the first loss of his career, but guarantees he’s recovered from the setback and ready to make a victorious debut for Brave. “JBC” has beaten the likes of Rony “Jason” Mariano and Kyle Bochniak during his rise through the Featherweight division’s ranking.
“I’m coming into a great, historical event. It’s going to be the first time a global MMA show will be held in Africa. I’m feeling very good, after 20 hours of flights, and it’s a cultural shock to finally be here in Morocco, but I’m loving everything about the country. I’m going in there to make a statement on Saturday night”, guarantees the Canadian star.
Kennedy is the rare breed of fighter that combines youthfulness and experience. While he’s one of the top prospects in the world, his record also reflects some big names in MMA and he’s ready to add Pilò to his resume on August 18th. For “JBC”, the difference between both men stands in the level of competition they’ve faced so far in their careers.
“I feel like the difference between me and Pilò is the level of competition. We do have kind of the same MMA record, but I’ve been way more tested than him. I’ve fought for top promotions and fought the toughest guys out there. He’s experienced, but he’s not fought the same level of competition I have”, says Jeremy, as stated in the “Road to Brave” series that depicts both fighters’ preparations for the Brave 14 co-main event bout.
Brave 14 will be headlined by a Welterweight bout between Moroccan star Ottman Azaitar and Serbia’s Danijel Kokora. Also set for fight night are Bantamweight stars Arnold Quero and Felipe Efrain facing each other, and a collision of rising contenders between Sidney Wheeler and Abdoul Abdouraguimov.
