Mohammad Karaki Vs Issey Francis Non-Title Bout Set For Desert Force 25

Desert Force has had a fantastic 2016 that saw records broken on numerous fronts, and the promotion figures to close the year with a stacked line-up at Al Academiya 4 Finale. But the latest announcement of Mohammad Karaki’s opponent for the December event might not be very pleasing for his fans.

The current Desert Force middleweight champion Mohammad Karaki will be fighting Issey Francis in Desert Force 25 this December. However, the champ will not be defending his title this time. Mohammad Karaki Vs Issey Francis will be part of  “Al Academiya Season 4 Finale”, which will take place in Amman.

While the promotion was originally set to make its first event in Morocco, with a rumored title fight between Karaki and Jordanian BJJ black belt Yazan Janeb, it seems that that they have decided to go back to Jordan. Karaki will now face Swiss opponent Issey Francis in a middleweight non-title fight.

Mohammad Karaki, who previously held the light heavyweight title, fought former Desert Force champion Ibrahim El Sawi, earning a split decision win at Desert Force 19. Subsequently, Karaki became the first Desert Force fighter to earn different belts in different divisions. Since that date in 2015, Karaki hasn’t fought and was recovering from an injury.

To fill in the gaps, Mohammad Karaki was about to make his first title defense at Desert Force 23 against Yacine Bandoui before injury forced him out. He is now on a six fight winning streak, and he will be looking to add his 7th straight.

Issey, hailing from Swizerland, and fighting out of AKA Thailand has a record of 2-3 with three consecutive losses. In that event, a match-up against the promotion’s 2-division champion doesn’t fall into place quite much. A weird match-up, which for many might seem like another booster for Karaki’s record, and who is there to blame.

Desert Force Al Academiya Season 4 Finale:

Desert Force 25 headliner will pit a light heavyweight rematch between the coaches Osama Al Saeidy and Mostafa Rached. Of course, the night will also feature the Al Academiya’s lightweight and light heavyweight title fights.
