Philippe Massoud Will Be Out For Revenge When He Returns To The Cage

Last week, it was revealed that Philippe Massoud will be making his long-awaited comeback after a long 2 year hiatus. Massoud will be facing Rahal Laarioui in tomorrow’s Cedar Fighting Championship II.

On December 15, 2014, Philippe Massoud (0-1) failed to come through in one of the most anticipated moments of his athletic career when he suffered a submission loss to Georges Bardawil in his professional debut at the Desert Force Al Academiya 2 Finale.

“After two long years away from the cage because of personal life issues, my last loss in Al Academiya 2 Finale didn’t get out of my mind. I trained hard morning and night waiting for my redemption, and it has finally come!”

Philippe Massoud has been quiet since he lost the Al Academiya bantamweight title to Bardawil. However, he has vowed to wipe away the memories of their first meeting in 2014. Yet, he will have to wait on that revenge. Georges Bardawil who makes his return to CFC tomorrow will take on Egypt’s Amer El Shawnshiry for the bantamweight championship.

“I’ll wait and see who’s gonna win the title in this fight between those two. I hope Bardawil will win, because I am coming to take that from him the way he did. But this time in my own country and between my people!”

“During my absence, I have been training at Knockout Academy in Lebanon and traveling to Thailand, training with AKA.”

“I’ve fought pro muay thai fights and won by knockout, and I competed in world BJJ tournaments in Abu Dhabi.”

“I would never have accomplished this without the support of my home town Fanar and its municipality, my head coach Michael Amer and my brother George Sahyouni.”

Cedar FC 2 will take place tomorrow, Saturday October 22, at the Platea Arena in Lebanon. The night features three championship fights, in addition to stacked pro and amateur MMA cards.
