UFC Abu Dhabi – Alan Omer Becomes Iraq’s First Fighter In UFC

With the return of the UFC to Abu Dhabi and the global expansion of its events, we are often asked this question: Who out of the Arab fighters has what it takes to fight for the largest organization in the world?! The news that Iraqi born Alan Omer will have his UFC debut At UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi this April came out quite surprisingly!

Omer’s dream came true and Iraq’s first ever MMA fighter will fight with the big boys in the world most prestigious organization. As a candidate for the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” Omer almost made it to the trials of the show, but he was unable to attend for health reasons.

2014, however begins more than satisfactory for the featherweight. After two years of absence, the native Iraqi from Stallion Cage was able to achieve a knockout victory in round 1 just a few days ago against Dennis Tomzek at Fair FC. And as we all know, hard work always pays off.


April 11 is the date we will be seeing Alan Omer at UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi stepping into the famous Octagon. His opponent, Jim Alers, the reigning Cage Warriors featherweight champion, will also make his UFC debut in April.

Not an easy task for Omer against a fighter known for his aggressive fighting style and excellent ground fighting. Yet Alan Omer surely has the talent and the will to make things happen! The Iraqi/Kurdish fighter will undoubtedly give anything to be successful in his debut. In his impressive professional record of 18-3, there are 10 wins by submission and six by KO / TKO, only two fights of his 18 victories have gone the distance. The outcome of this fight remains unforeseeable.

Spite of obstacles that have reared up in his career before, Omer pressed forward in his career and has now reached where many fighters dream!
