UFC’s Valentina Shevchenko Talks Phoenix Championship, Fight Against Amanda Nunes

The one and only Phoenix 2 Muay Thai event had a special spark to it last week, as the super Shevchenko sisters got heavy attention from the fans and media.

The sisters landed in Beirut with UFC’s Valentina Shevchenko cornering her sister Antonina Shevchenko prior to her fight at Phoenix 2. That night, Antonina was proudly crowned with the Middle East’s first WMC Female World Title and the Phoenix Championship Title belts.

Valentina:

“I am very happy to be finally here in Beirut. We have a very old friendship with Master Sami Kiblawi, since 2003.”

“The event (Phoenix 2) is a very high level event. It’s one of the best promotions that I have seen around the world in terms of organization, facilities, and fighter conditions.”

Happy for Antonina’s success, Valentina went on to recount how her sister gives it her all and works hard for every fight.

“Antonina has put on a very good show at Phoenix 2, it was a very well deserved victory”

Speaking of here rumored rematch against Amanda Nunes, UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko mentioned to ArabsMMA that she has planned her schedule around champ Amanda Nunes’ availability.

Shevchenko (14-2) said both sides are working on a date for her title shot.

“I think soon we’ll have something. My manager and their managers are speaking to the UFC. We just need to set the date, time, and place, and we’re ready to take action”
