Walid Seghir, winner of Al Batal MMA TV show made his successful debut with Desert Force promotion when he faced Filipino opponent Vaughn Donayre.

The lightweight bout was part of the Desert Force 20 preliminary fight card, preceding the main card which aired live on MBC Action.

The Algerian fighter managed to sink in a tight rear-naked-choke against Donayre 3 minutes into the first round.

In his corner was Mohamed Walid, the former DFC interim lightweight champion who previously faced and submitted Vaughn Donayre in ONE FC’s first event in the UAE.

Also in Seghir’s corner was Desert Force Algerian fighter Mohamed Sayah who has fought three times under the Desert Force banner.

From the opening seconds, Walid’s style was hinting that he’s setting up for a takedown which eventually happened as Donayre charged. Walid went for a single leg, picked him up, and slammed him hard. Donayre managed to get back on his feet and deliver some of his own strikes. But that didn’t last long as Walid went for double leg take down, took the back, secured the hooks and sinked in a rear-naked-choke at 3.11 min into the first round.

ArabsMMA‘s Zahi Ephrem caught up with Mohammad Walid and Walid Seghir backstage prior to the fight.

Walid Seghir:

I am coming for the win. I am happy to be back in the UAE and have Mohammad Walid and Mohammad Sayyah in my corner. I trained hard and I am ready for this fight.

And indeed he deliverer. A remarkable debut for Al Batal!
