We’re only 3 weeks into the new year, and Paul Daley made a very early case for best KO of 2017. Daley stole the “Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen” show on Saturday night blasting Brennan Ward with a flying knee in the co-main event fight.

The MMA veteran thrilled everyone with a brutal flying knee to finish of Brennan Ward 2 minutes and 27 seconds into the first round of their bout at Bellator 170.

Ward had control early in the round, pinning Daley up against the cage and doing damage. But just as Ward decided to scramble back to his feet and throw some shots, Daley landed a spinning elbow to the head before delivering the fight-ending blow.

Two Killer Muay Thai moves connect back to back. Brennan Ward is out of it and is flat on his back! What a nasty knockout.

This was Daley’s 39th win and 29th by knockout in his long, roller coaster career, making him one of the best KO artists in mixed martial arts.

Some of you may have had the chance of witnessing one of Daley’s exciting finishes back in 2013 when he took part of the Dubai FC 4 event, knocking out Brazilian opponent Rodrigo Ribeiro.

Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen took place Jan. 21 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
