A new fighting promotion is set to debut this April in Lebanon featuring a mixed fight card of professionals and amateurs competitors.
Is the Arab world ready for a new Lebanese based fighting promotion? Well, it’s getting one. And while it will feature professional and amateur fights (along with a major TV deal) means that it should get some eyes on it right away. It’s called “CEDAR” Fighting championship.
According to CFC officials, “Cedar Fighting Championship (CFC) is a Lebanese full-contact combat sport promotion that allows the use of striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports and martial arts.” Sounds a little like MMA right ?
The first event is set to take place at PLATEA Venue, Sahel Alma on April 28. No information is yet released on who will take part of the card but it will feature international fighters Vs Local Lebanese talents.
Rumored fighters to take part of this event are: Tristar Lebanon pro fighters George Eid (3-2) and George Bardawil(2-0) along with IMMAF silver medalist Imad Howayek and Lebanese amateur welterweight champion Richard Saliba.
The promotion plans to carry out 3 events this year with CFC 2 planned for June and CFC 3 in August.
Stay tuned for more information regarding the fight card. One thing is for sure, when it comes to combat events and Beirut, expect to see some interesting match-ups and hardcore fans filling the venue.
