Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez vs. Mohammad “The Latest” Fakhreddine. It doesn’t get much bigger than that does it? Well, from what we’re hearing, it’s a fight that could actually be taking place in the near future.
Returning to mixed martial arts competition after a 2 year hiatus, the Desert Force welterweight champion, Mounir Lazzez, appeared in a “live” social media broadcast on ArabsMMA discussing his upcoming fight in Phoenix Fighting Championship 4 against Christophe Vandijck. While talking about his reasons for the hiatus, his team mates and his upcoming fight, an interesting subject opened up when Lazzez answered a fan’s question regarding a potential fight against the Arab mixed martial arts welterweight superstar and former Desert Force middleweight champion (Who actually never lost the belt), Mohammad Fakhreddine.
Mounir Lazzez:
“Me vs. Fakhreddine, yeah, this is the fight that everybody wants to see. We’ll see what happens. He’s (Fakhreddine) in another promotion at the moment, but I would like to fight him. I’m sure we will get this fight done by next year. Why not? It makes sense and everybody wants to see that fight so let’s do it.”
To make matters even more interesting, Phoenix Fighting Championship CEO, Mr. Chahe Yerevanian, joined the “live” broadcast and asked Lazzez who he would like to fight after Fakhreddine, assuming he got that fight. However, Lazzez was determined to focus on his next opponent and had his sight set only on Fakhreddine for the near future.
Mounir Lazzez:
“Let’s do Fakhreddine first. After this one, get me Fakhreddine. Let’s put on a show for the Arab crowd.”
With Fakhreddine fighting under Brace Combat Federation, with his next fight happening in a 3 days against Tahar Hadbi, it’s interesting to see not only how, but where this potential fight will take place. For the meantime though, both men have tough upcoming opponents awaiting them in the respective promotions.
