Welterweight icon Jarrah Al-Selawe is set to make the first defense of his Brave Combat Federation world title against submission machine Abdoul Abdouraguimov in the main event of Brave 23: Pride and Honor. The event will take place in Amman, Jordan, on April 19th. Al-Selawe will once again be fighting in front of his home crowd, and he is confident in ending his opponent’s winning streak.
A well-rounded fighter, “The Jordanian Lion” seems focused on his striking for “The Conqueror”, who has yet to taste defeat in his professional career. Al-Selawe predicts he’ll finish the fight by knockout and sends a warning to his rival.
“I’m very excited because my first title defense will be in front of my crowd and on my land. The audience will be ready and excited and I’ve prepared a lot for this moment. I expect the fight to end by knockout. Abdoul, you are a good fighter, but be ready for your first loss”, says Al-Selawe, who feels better prepared than Abdouraguimov overall and is not especially concerned about his opponent’s grappling credentials.
“It’s an MMA fight. I expect to be better than Abdoul inside the cage. I’m well-rounded and can fight in all areas, and I’ll pose a threat to him everywhere. When he enters the cage, I’ll touch him for the first time and show him why I’m the champion”.
Aside from being well-rounded, Jarrah is also counting on his experience as a difference maker when the two collide in the historic main event. Al-Selawe is the record-holder for most wins in the Brave Arena, with six victories to his name so far, while Abdouraguimov has two.
“He knows the path I’ve gone through to become the champion. I’ve beaten the best athletes in the Brave roster and I took the title from the champion (Carlston Harris) by knocking him out in the first round. I brought this belt to Jordan and to Jordanian MMA and, by God’s will, it will stay here for a long time”.
