Ahmed Amir on Brave 11 loss: “I just couldn’t see from all the blood”

Ahmed Amir Brave 11

Ahmed Amir suffered his first professional loss in his career at Brave Combat Federation to Cleiton Silva from Brazil. Amir entered the bout representing SBG Ireland after his first overseas training camp set under the Head Coach, John Kavanagh. Despite Cleiton Silva failing to make weight, Amir accepted the challenge and set the bout going. He was accompanied by Middle Eastern superstar, Mohammad Fakhreddine who was in the corner of Ahmed Amir.

“I came into this fight with a rib injury, my opponent missed weight by 3 kg but i was determined to put on a good performance, but that early hit which opened my up… man, i couldn’t see anything at all. The blood was coming in my eyes, and that was that! Alhamdullilah for everything, always.”

Amir was inflicted a cut in the early moments of the first round. The cut resulted in profuse bleeding which nearly affected the vision of the fighter from Egypt. Despite the injury Amir went toe-toe against his opponent often surprising Silva who had a greater height and reach advantage apart from being heavier than Amir. In the finishing moments of the first round, Amir showcased pure resilience and survived the vicious attack unleashed by Cleiton Silva on a grounded Amir.

Despite chances to stop the fight, Amir insisted to continue to the second round. During the second round Silva dominated Amir who was struggling with profuse blood loss that was affecting his visibility. This forced referee to step in and award the bout to Cleiton Silva by way of doctor stoppage. The upsetting victory gifted Cleiton Silva relief to bounce back after the defeat he had suffered at the championship title fight against Erick Barbosa at main event of Jungle Fight 92 the previous year.
