The Armenian Muay Thai fighter, Armen Grigoryan, is in Lebanon for the first time to represent his country in Phoenix 2 this Ssturday, April 29, 2017.
Shortly after landing in Beirut, Grigoryan attended a basketball game between Homenetmen and Champville, with Homentmen finishing victorious to get qualified to the final four of the Lebanese basketball league. The Armenians were victorious that night!
In the company of Chahe Yerevanian, the President of Phoenix promotion and owner of Sayfco Holding, Grigoryan had the opportunity to be introduced to and speak to the Armenian crowd during half time:
“As you all know by now, I was invited to take part in the professional fight on April 29, and I will feel happy and powerful when my Armenian people are supporting me! I wish everyone to be there and support me, and to give me power so I win, so we all win ! “
Chahe Yerevanian in turn touched on Phoenix’s first event, Phoenix 1, which saw huge support and attendance from the Armenian fans. The president invited the crowds to come support the promotion’s second event and cheer up for their country’s talent, Armen Grigoryan.
Taking place on the day after the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, this sport event was a display of Armenian support for one another. The Armenian population makes up 4% of the total Lebanese population. Always in support of one another, where you find one Armenian representing his country you will find a big number of fellow nationals right behind him cheering with national pride.
The first installment of Phoenix promotion had a great turn out of Armenian supporters. The participation of Armen Grigoryanin in the second installment will be an even bigger boost to the Armenian sport fans in Lebanon.
This 70kg Muay Thai fighter will surely do his country proud as he battles it out in the ring against Xie Wei from China.
“This is the first time am in Beirut, I am very excited to be here and take part of phoenix 2. Its a great feeling to fight in April, if god wills it, and I can see the victory , I will dedicate this win to all the Armenian Martyrs of the genocide.” – Grigoryan stated the next day to ArabsMMA.
With Phoenix 2 all set, Phoenix president Chahe Yerevanian has hinted that the third installment of the championship will take place outside Lebanon, and you’ve guessed it, in the one and only special country of Armenia!
