As if it wasn’t enough for two of the most dominant Welterweights in MMA to collide in the main event, Brave 23: Pride and Honor became even more interesting after Brave world titleholder Jarrah Al-Selawe’s ‘Champion Workout’. While doing a special training session for his fans at MAT05, his coach Samy AlJamal’s gym, Jarrah was surprised by the sudden appearance of his challenger Abdoul Abdouraguimov.
The French-Russian submission machine heard about the event and wanted to personally check on his opponent’s workout, so he headed to MAT05 to surprise him. Al-Selawe didn’t like seeing “The Conqueror” in his gym and chaos inevitably ensued, with the duo nearly coming to blows three days before fight night.
Abdouraguimov was booed by Al-Selawe’s fans upon arrival, but remained calm and talked about his expectations for the Brave 23 main event with Carlos Kremer, the Roaring voice of Brave Combat Federation, who was MC’ing the event.
“I’m very happy to be here in Jordan. I have nothing special to say, only that I hope everyone here watches the fight. Hopefully, we’re going to put on a show”, said Abdoul.
On his turn to talk, Jarrah preferred to focus on sending a message to his fans, but did say that Abdouraguimov dropping by was a “nice surprise”.
“This is a team effort, I couldn’t do what I do without my coaches. I thank everyone for the support, and Friday will be an amazing day for everyone who supports me. We will have a big surprise for everyone, something that we have been working on a lot. Abdoul dropping by was a nice surprise, but we’re going to give you a huge spectacle on fight night”, promised the champ.
If Al-Selawe held back from talking trash directly to Abdoul when talking to Carlos Kremer, he wasn’t thrilled when the two faced off. Visibly bothered, the champ came close to Abdouraguimov’s face, when the challenger said: “not that close”. Jarrah then shoved him, but they were separated before their rift escalated further.
Brave 23: Pride and Honor will be headlined by three title fights. Aside from Al-Selawe x Abdouraguimov in the main event, Bahrain’s Eldar Eldarov and Mounir Lazzez, from Tunisia, meet for the first-ever Super Lightweight world title, and Jordan’s Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady defends his Lightweight crown against Luan “Miau” Santiago.
