Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s first event in Iraq is starting to take shape with the official announcement of several fights. Cage Warriors 61 will mark the country’s first taste of an internationally recognized MMA event, which will feature some of the top talent on the CWFC roster.

Iraq will become the eleventh country to play host to a Cage Warriors event since the start of last year. At the outset of 2012, the promotion embarked on an ambitious international schedule, breaking new ground for the sport of mixed martial arts in countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Ukraine. Cage Warriors 61 takes place Dec. 14 in Baghdad with the exact venue yet to be revealed.

CWFC 61 is to be headlined by a welterweight contest between Matt Inman (12-5) and Bruno Carvalho (15-7). Carvalho is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Gael Grimaud in the main event of Cage Warriors Fight Night 9 in October and will be looking to get back in the win column. Inman, on the other hand, has been in the best form of his career in the past year having put together a run of three straight Cage Warriors victories, but a win over Carvalho would undoubtedly be his biggest to date.

Also on the card, Jack Mason (25-12) goes after his 4th straight win under the CWFC banner when he meets French veteran Seydina Seck (15-9-1), whose resume includes wins over former Cage Warriors welterweight champ Grimaud and three-time UFC veteran Simeon Thoresen.
