Bahrain – February 07, 2016 – The press conference for officially announcing Bahrain as a host to the 4th edition of the IMMAF world amateur championships was held yesterday at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa Hotel under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled Bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The meeting saw the coming together of Bahraini government representatives, the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and KHK MMA represented by its CEO Mohammed Shahid. Also present were IMMAF heads, President Kerrith Brown, and CEO Densign White, along with board members.
The “IMMAF World Championship” is the world’s most prestigious amateur Mixed Martial Arts tournament. 2017 will exceptionally mark the first time the event is conducted outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Bahrain will be the first Asian or Arab country to host an IMMAF World Championship. The announcement comes following the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation officially granting the Kingdom of Bahrain the right to host the 2017 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA. The event is scheduled to be held later in November this year.
This decision translates the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to strengthen the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in this sport, globally. During the conference, KHK MMA CEO Mohammed Shahid seized the occasion to announce that Brave Combat Federation will be returning to Bahrain in November as part of its 2017 blockbuster schedule which includes among other targets Brazil, India, and the UAE.
Mohammed Shahid revealed that Brave CF promotion is aiming for November 17th. Given that this coincides with the IMMAF Championships in Bahrain, the two events will be held as part of a fight week which promises to serve as the biggest week of MMA Action in the Middle East. Both of the IMMAF Championships and the Brave event will take place at Khalifa Sports City. The tournament will pause on Friday for Brave and then it will all culminate with the 2017 IMMAF World Championships finals. To celebrate the IMMAF-Brave partnership, Mohammed Shahid guaranteed the greatest card Brave CF has ever put together.
