The latest update claims that Petr Yan’s corner has been denied a visa to enter the United States following the Russian-Ukraine conflict. At UFC 273 in the coming month, Petr Yan is set to challenge Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight title. The fight will be a rematch from UFC 259, which saw Sterling capture the belt via a disqualification win.
As per Igor Lazonin from Russian Tass Agency, since all the teammates of Yan have been denied entry, Nurmagomedov cornering the bantamweight from Russia could be a possibility. The idea of Khabib Nurmagomedov stepping in on short notice could be particularly intriguing, especially given how successful he’s been as a coach in the last few years.
Given that Nurmagomedov has achieved legendary status as a fighter, the situation will be interesting to observe the legacy he is building from the cageside mentoring and guiding upcoming talent towards success.
The other main fights on the UFC 273 include Alexander Volkanovski vs The Korean Zombie for the UFC featherweight title, Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns meeting in a number one contender fight and so much more.
