Seems like 2014 is treating Team Quest’s Mehdi Baghdad as he deserves! Stuggling to find fights in the previous year, Baghdad is set to face Ryan Chiappe on Friday, Jan 17 at The Maximum Fighting Championship – MFC 39 which will be held at the Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
Baghdad who trains at Team Quest in Temecula, California boasts six knockouts and three submission victories and enters the MFC riding a five-fight winning streak. In 2013 Baghdad managed to TKO Tom Douglas in a spectacular fashion in June! Baghdad also defeated Dionisio Ramirez via Submission at 1:53 of Round 2 at BAMMA USA-BadBeat 11 finishing his year with another submission over Nick “The K.O. Kid” Christy (7-4) via rear naked choke!
Chiappe, who fights out of Vancouver, B.C., has won two of his last three outings, and is in search of his first win under the MFC banner after falling in the first round at MFC 31. Chiappe KO’ed Aaron Shymr in the first round in his latest appearance at Fivestar Fight League 8 – Barefoot Beach Battle
last August.
Surely my money is on the Algeria Baghdad as his record proves how determined he is to reach the big leagues! Training with the likes of Dan Hernderson and Tarec Saffiedine, Mehdi’s fight game improves everyday!
