In a major move that signifies its expanding global footprint, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization, ONE Championship, has announced a trio of high-stakes matchups for its inaugural event in the Middle Eastern sports hub of Qatar. Dubbed ONE 166: Qatar, the event is set to take the stage at the Lusail Sports Arena on March 1, as confirmed by a recent post on the organization’s social media channels.
Reigning ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks is ready to make his first World Title defense, and it comes against a familiar rival. The American star will put his gold on the line against former strawweight MMA king and current #1-ranked contender Joshua “The Passion” Pacio in a must-see World Title rematch.
The heavyweight division will also see a former ONE Heavyweight MMA World Champion Arjan “Singh” Bhullar return to face fellow contender Amir Aliakbari in a high-stakes battle . Adding diversity to the combat showcase, Yemeni-Saudi Arabian sensation Osamah Almarwai who will lock horns with Brazilian star Cleber “Clandestino” Sousa in a pivotal flyweight submission grappling showdown.
