After opting to land in Lebanon this August [Monday August 17, 2015], Desert Force has finally drawn a smile on the face the local fans with the all Lebanese fight card. As the arena packs up with Lebanese fans – known as the hugest supporters of the sport – to witness their countrymen do battle, Desert Force 18 will be the loudest DF event to date.
On the card, we will witness a battle of two locals as Serges Saad looks to face Michel Aoun in a lightweight bout.
Saad, who took part of the Desert Force Al Academia season II reality show, made it all the way to the semi-finals of the featherweight division. After losing the semi-finals, seemingly due to an intense weight cut, Saad made his Desert Force debut again at the featherweight division with a disappointing loss against a very seasoned opponent in Lois Cadet. This loss, however, drove Saad to try and make more time for his training and promise to get a win against his next opponent as he move up a weight class to face Michel Aoun.
With a Jujitsu and grappling background, Saad has been busy participating in several grappling competitions to upgrade his game to the next level. Making his Desert Force lightweight debut, Saad will hope that his ground skills will be enough to neutralize or even submit Aoun.
Having made his Desert Force debut with a unanimous decision victory, Michel Aoun, now with a professional record of 1-0, will be looking to extend his record to 2-0 by stopping Serges Saad. Showing decent wrestling skills in his last bout, Aoun promises to show more stand up skills and control Saad with his advanced wrestling in order to make a serious name for himself at the Desert Force lightweight division.
This will be a good test for both these fighters and will set their place at lightweight. Also, it will be one of the fights that will have all the Lebanese fans cheering as it will be Home vs Home in Lebanon.
ArabsMMA will be your go to source for all on Desert Force 18, stay tuned!
