It was announced a few days ago that the UFC is coming back to Abu Dhabi in 2014. The date, April 11, has been recently confirmed as is the headlining fight pitting Heavyweight veterans Roy “Big Country” Nelson and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira who will battle it out in the main event of the UFC’s second show in Abu Dhabi!
Although Flash Entertainment own 10%, the UFC hasn’t had an event in the region since their first, set in a temporary, outdoor stadium. The UFC’s previous visit to Abu Dhabi came in April of 2010, with a UFC 112 card headlined by Anderson Silva’s middleweight title defense against Damien Maia.
It is doubtful the fight card this time will be stacked due to the time difference… that being said it probably won’t be aired on Pay-Per-View either.
Under the assumption that it will be aired for free on either Fox or Fight Network, in addition to being aired on Abu Dhabi Sports, a fight card stacked with the lesser known Dagestani, Brazilian and Arab fighters.
Shout out to Joe Silva! Include:
and the list goes on…
It’s been 4 years since the last visit, and the Arab MMA scene has vastly matured since! We Need A Stacked Card Joe!
