Welcome to another edition of Finish of the Week…the article that takes a look at the best finish of the week, as well as reminding you of similar finishes from years gone by.

UFC’s Fight Night 68 Boetsch VS Henderson was a fun event full of exciting finishes, but with the very first fight of the Preliminary card came the finish I knew would be hard to beat. Joe Proctor VS Justin Edwards was a tightly contested fight through all 3 rounds, by two fighters who seems to be stylistic mirror images of one another: each of them has heavy hands, good ground games, and crushing guillotine chokes. After three intense rounds, it was Joe Proctor who came out on top, choking him unconscious with only 2 seconds to go in the third and final round. The choke came by the way of the guillotine, the favored submission of both fighters. For fighting to get the finish so late in the fight, for taking a close fight out of the hands of the judges, for creativity with a modified guillotine, and for putting his opponent out so quickly: Joe Proctor wins my finish of the week.

Honorable mention: It’s a rare thing to see a heavy weight throw a head kick, let alone a hook kick…but that’s exactly how Shawn Jordan finished the “black beast” Derrick Lewis in the second round of their encounter. There was a surprisingly plentiful amount of kicks being thrown, mostly by Lewis, but it was Shawn Jordan who threw the fight ender, landing the hook kick across the jaw and finishing up with strikes on the ground early on in the second frame.

Some more devastating guillotine chokes for you to enjoy!

Jon Jones VS Lyoto Machida

Dan Miller VS Dave Phillips

Cheick Kongo VS Frank Mir
