2. The Title fights!
Every great card needs fights of importance and significance. Whether it’s a title fight, a fight between legends, or perhaps it’s a crossroads fight between fighters who are ready to break through and become household names. Phoenix 1 has two main events which deliver it all.
The Muay Thai main event pits the legend of Muay Thai, against a man who seeks that legendary status and may be the best fighter outside Thailand in this discipline, Andre Kulebin. Two of the world’s best will finally meet and battle for more than just the belt, which is on the line, but so much more. These are two dominant men who both believe they are the best, so there is the pride element, then there is the legacy. Buakaw has already sealed his legacy, but a win against Kulebin would really be the icing on the cake. Conversely a win for Kulebin, on such a big stage with the world watching, would be life changing and elevate his status into the legendary category.

As for the MMA main event between Davi Ramos and Nick Piedmont, we have a real clash of styles as the well rounded, cardio machine Piedmont, clashes with the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Davi Ramos. Ramos is a true master of Jiu Jitsu, a black belt under Cear “Casqhinha” Guimaraes. He’s an incredible grappler who won the Abu Dhabi Combat Club World Championships last year, yet he will face a man, Piedmont, who is good at all aspects of Mixed Martial Arts and has been tipped for big things in the sport.
