With less than a week until Desert Force 17, Icon BJJ coach Anderson Pereira sat with ArabsMMA to discuss Lois Cadet’s upcoming fight against Abdul Kareem al Selwady in Desert Force’s return to Jordan (Monday May 25).
For those who are not familiar with him, Anderson Pereira is a Brazilian and a well decorated BJJ and Judo black belt under Professor Ze Marcello and he represents Team Icon Jiu Jitsu, just a hand full of his titles would be: World Masters champion grappling, European champion BJJ adult, European champion grappling master and second place in the Brazilian league grappling master.
First I would like to thank God for being by our side, and also Desert Force organization for giving us the opportunity to take part of its events and prove our hard work and dedication.
As for Abdulkareem Al Selwady and his team:
In my country, when someone loses a fight we shut our mouth and work hard to recover from the loss. Forget about Aziz now and focus on Lois, you have to concentrate on fight day. There are a lot of new fighters in the 66 kg division that in my opinion can defeat Selwady easily. Rami Aziz, Elias Boudegzdame, and Chabanne Chaibedra are a few names on top of my mind. That being said, I hope Selwady prepared well for the fight and hope both fighters will put on a great show that will excite the Jordanian fans.
This is not the first time that we fight against Selwady. And even if his team is not so respectful, me and my team respect him as an athlete we know than he is young and he has good potential.
On whether Cadet will defeat Selwady:
As soon as the cage door is closed, it’s only about the two fighters and the two coaches. Lois has no pressure on him. Everybody believes that Selwady will beat Lois, same as last time when the fans put their money on Selwady. We are working hard for this event and for Cadet’s victory.
