After watching the entire event, it wouldn’t be hard to recognize who the fighter with the best performance of the night was at Brave 10: The Kingdom of Champion!
The Jordanian home-crowd favorite, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady, delivered a fascinating 3 rounds of Mixed Martial Arts action as he absolutely out-performed and out-classed his opponent, Charlie Leary, in every way possible.
Starting as a competitive contest, the first round had its moments for Leary, especially in the stand-up battle. Later in the round, after a successful take-down attempt was scored by Al-Selwady. Almost instantaneously, Leary’s grappling game was exposed in contrast to that of the Jordanian’s. To be fair, it’s not that Leary’s grappling game is bad in any way, it was just that Al-Selwady’s was on an entire different universe in his, putting a beating on Leary that took its toll as he carried further into the rounds.
The story of the fight was pretty much the same for the 2nd and 3rd round. Al-Selwady’s crazy pace and endless cardio overwhelmed Leary. The Jordanian was successful in taking Leary down on multiple occasions, switching up between a blitzkrieg of ground pounding, top pressure, submission attempts and guard passing. An extremely durable Leary almost miraculously rode the storm to the end, but the unanimous decision was clearly in the favor of Al-Selwady.
After his victory, Al-Selwady was interviewed inside the cage and asked about his potential next fight being a title shot against Ottman Azaitar, the current Brave Combat Federation Lightweight Champion. Al-Selwady made it clear that the only thing that he cares about is fighting and trusts Brave Combat Federation will give him a fight soon, no matter who it be against.
It makes perfect sense that the Jordanian be fighting for the Brave Combat Federation Lightweight title strap next. With 4 straight victories inside the Brave CF cage, it’s time to see him match-up for a shot against the current undefeated Lightweight champion.
