Bassel Narmouq will make his return to the Desert Force cage when he takes on the Syrian debutante Maher Saloum. Bassel was most recently part of team Arkhagha on the Academia show and will be making a drop in weight to 66 KG’s. Maher fought most recently in Lebanon on the Beirut Amatuer fight night where he won by decision. Interestingly, Maher is a team mate of Mohammad Fakhreddine who was the opposing coach on the Academia show.
Bassel Narmouq, one of the most heard names on the amateur scene, will be making his professional debut under the desert force banner this April in Al-Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena, Amman, Jordan, his home town.
Narmouq has been around the MMA scene since 2011 competing as an amateur under Cage Warriors banner and recently took part in the reality TV show Desert Force Al Academiya as a lightweight.
His aggressive style and ground technique looked superior in some cases yet, facing physically stronger lightweights was not a walk in the park for the Circassian/Jordanian. Narmouq’s team knew that, in order to make the best out of this talent, dropping weight, and fighting as a featherweight will surely shift Bassel’s performance into another level. And that’s what happened.
His upcoming fight will be against another amateur fighter, Maher Salloum who fights out of Hasan Bejawi’s Tiger Muay Thai gym, home of Desert Force interim Middleweight champ Mohammad Fakhreddine. Known for his extreme physical abilities and brawling capabilities, Salloum might have an advantage in the striking department yet when it comes to grappling and overall technicalities, Narmouq ill have an edge and the Odds are more likely to go his way.
It’s not very clear how this fight will end but Narmouq’s submission game and cage experience will probably take care of business against the less known Salloum.
