Brave Combat Federation’s first tile defense bout between Elias Boudegzdame and Lucas Mineiro, serving as the co-main event of Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions, has officially been scrapped.
The Brave 9 main card has taken a hit. During the Brave 9 official weigh-ins, Lucas Mineiro missed the featherweight 66Kg mark ahead of his anticipated title fight against Boudegzdame.
Boudegdzdame hit the scale at 65.1Kg, but Mineiro came in 4Kg’s, well over the weight limit.
As reported from Elias Boudegzdame’s head coach, Martins was given the opportunity to rehydrate his body, on the condition that he is under 75Kg’s on fight day. However, for some reason, Martins did not accept the offer and the fight is canceled as a result.
Such news obviously affects both these fighters. In an interview with Amin, the coach of the Brave Combat Federation featherweight champion, Boudegzdame is extremely disappointed that this fight won’t happen at Brave 9.
“Elias is very sad that the fight is not going to happen. He was ready and the entire crew actually came to watch him defend his title belt. “Mineiro” (Lucas Martins) did not make weight, not even close. He was 4 kilos over. We gave him the opportunity to rehydrate, but come in at no more than 75 KG on fight day. He didn’t take it. Hopefully we’ll get another opportunity with Brave Combat Federation”.
The reasons why Martins missed weight are still unknown. It’s unfortunate that such a highly anticipated fight won’t happen at the end of the day, but this is a repetitive story that often happens in the fight game.
Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions will take place on the 17th of November in the Kingdom of Bahrain, still with an explosive fight card that features our favorite fighters, the likes of Nawras Abzakh, Hamza Kooheji, Ahmed Amir, Mohammad Fakhreddine, Tahar Hadbi, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady, Jarrah Al-Selwai and many more.
