Mohammed “The Latest” Fakhreddine (14-4-0, 1 NC) captured the Middleweight championship title at BRAVE Combat Federation with a triumphant TKO victory over the Champion, Daniel “Gaucho” Pereira (9-3-0). The Lebanese flag danced high in the arena, as Fakhreddine was crowned as the champion cementing his legacy with the greatest underdog story ever told in the history of MMA in the Middle East.
Fakhreddine conquered the championship at 36-years of age after overcoming a career-threatening injury as well as a personal tragedy where his house was burned down. The year was not kind to the veteran from Lebanon as his hometown suffered from a catastrophic explosion that was a heart-wrenching tragedy over his beloved nation.
Against all odds, Fakhreddine marched against the champion who boasted to the world that he will retire Fakhreddine from his iconic MMA career. From the opening bell of the first round, the warrior from Lebanon marched forward firing deadly shots while evading every combination with classic head movements to frustrate the champion.
Towards the third round, the champion from Brazil was out of tricks and was clearly gassed out. A failed attempt to jab the legend from Lebanon resulted in an eye poke. Pereira who promised to MMA fans that he will retire the legend from Lebanon stared at the lights absorbing the bombs Fakhreddine landed at will as the referee rushed to protect the fallen champion. As the bout was concluded both the fighters embraced each other showing respect putting aside their differences.
The veteran was with the promotion from 2016 and was the first choice as a contender for the inaugural welterweight championship title at BRAVE CF 8 at Curitiba, Brazil in 2018.
The victory is also a crowning glory to Shishani Submission Systems, Fortis MMA, and Tiger Muay Thai who played a crucial role in supporting the training and shaping the career of the icon from Lebanon.
