Former Al Academiya Season 2 contestant and semi-finalist, Iraqi Hussein Salem, will be looking to face the Jordanian Ezzedine Alderbane when Desert Force hits Jordan on the 18th of May. This featherweight bout will be part of Desert Force 17 taking place at the King Hussein Boxing Arena in the Kingdom’s capital city Amman.
Hussein Salem had a successful and entertaining run on the Desert Force Al Academiya 2 show, making it all the way to the semi-finals. Known for both his aggressive and entertaining fighting style, Salem actually made his professional debut before competing in Al Academiya 2 show against Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady as a late replacement, saving the main event in Desert Force Bahrain. Though pretty much everybody thought of Salem as an easy opponent, Salem shocked everyone when he came in and gave Al-Selwady a fight, losing in the second round after a hard fought battle with the former champion. With a professional record of 1-1, Salem has recently fought in ICFC 6, finishing his opponent early via rear naked choke.
Hailing from Jordan, Ezzedine Al Derabane made his professional debut in Desert Force 16 against the always tough Ali Al Naemi. Al Derbane proved to be a well-rounded fighter and won every round in this lightweight fight earning an undisputable unanimous decision win. His fight against Salem will establish what is yet to come from him as well as his opponent. This fight will be at 66kg, the original division in which Al Derbane fought as an amateur. Expect a stand up war from both these fighters yet don’t be surprised if the Jordanian tries to finish this one on the ground.
Stay tuned for more fights to be released for the next Desert Force 17 fight card.
