Former Arab champion Ibrahim El Sawi is set to compete again under Phoenix Fighting Championship banner this August.

El Sawi (6-5 MMA, 0-1 Phoenix) will meet the younger light heavyweight newcomer Kevin Oumar (7-3 MMA) at August’s Phoenix 9 event, ArabsMMA verified after an initial post by Chahe Yerevanian.

El Sawi has lost his last 3 MMA fights, while Oumar comes into this one riding a 4 fight win steak.

Phoenix 9 takes place August 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The card will air on MBC Action and will feature three announced title fights.

Egyptian fighter Ibrahim El Sawi needs to start picking his fights. He enters this fight looking to break out of a three-fight skid against a legitimate opponent. Though he has had some challenging moments lately, especially under the Phoenix banner, losing via 2nd round leglock submission against the powerful grappler Tarek Suleiman, El Sawi brings heavy strikes to every battle he attends.

Standing across from El Sawi will be Kevin Oumar (6-3-0). The Frenchman is making his Phoenix debut and has been on the flipside of El Sawi’s luck recently, winning and finishing all of his last 3 fights. Oumar is making his way to Phoenix as a serious light heavyweight contender in the division, and he knows that a victory over a household name like El Sawi is exactly what he needs to fast track his way forward in the promotion.
