Beirut, Lebanon – Joeshwa Mortada was waiting to hit the scale again when he became aware that Phoenix ONE opponent Bachir Yammine had missed weight by a fairly number of pounds for their lightweight bout scheduled for today.
At the official Phoenix ONE weigh-in, Bachir Yammine hit the scale, way off the mark from the 70Kg lightweight limit and naturally Joeshwa Mortada wasn’t happy about it.
ArabsMMA had a chat with Mortada, who expressed his resentment over the unprofessionalism of his opponent:
“I did my best to professionally make weight today. Unfortunately, my opponent did not even try to make weight. I have been waiting for 10 years for my professional debut at what will be Middle East’s best promotions.
I have negotiated part of Yammine’s purse, but we did not reach an agreement. They offered me other opponents, I have accepted last minute opponents many times before, but this will not happen in my pro debut.
Phoenix has promised me to give me a fight in the next event.”
