After John makdessi was scheduled to fight Edson barbossa at UFC 162,a striking battle between 2 fighters that come from similar background , Tae Kwon Do. Yet , an injury got in the way of this intense matchup and the fight did not happen. Well recovered John is back and ready for his lightweight bout against Renne Forte (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in the latest addition to September’s UFC 165 event.
UFC officials today announced the matchup.
Featuring a pair of championship matchups, UFC 165 takes place Sept. 21 at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following preliminary-card bouts on FX and Facebook.
Makdessi vs. Forte likely will be part of the prelims.
Makdessi will be looking to add a 3rd win to his streak which will make way for a top 10 opponent after this one.Makdessi had a 9-0 start to his career that included his UFC wins over Pat Audinwood and Kyle Watson, he suffered back-to-back losses to Dennis Hallman and Anthony Njokuani. However, he overcame these hard losses and flipped his journey for recent victories over Sam Stout and Daron Cruickshank, both via decision, and now looks for his third straight win in his home country.
The odds will surely be on John coming into this fight , he is the more experienced and has fought tougher opponents!And let’s not forget that he trains with Team Zahabi under Feras Zahabi himself, so wait n see;)!
