Jeddah – For most people this fight looked like a close fight that would test the acumen of the judges at cageside, and then a sudden burst of violence from Aziz Julaidan took the problem out of their hands.
This featherweight title fight was part of Monday’s Desert Force 14 event at Arena, Jeddah. It aired on MBC Action as the Main event that evening.
After this fight was dropped the first time, Al Academiya Finale finally had both coaches face each other in what was the most anticipated fight of the night. In front of his home crowd in Jeddah, Aziz Julaidan backed up his previous statement to ArabsMMA, “the shield will stay in Saudi Arabia”, by making history as the first Desert Force Saudi Arabia Champion. Aziz put his fists where his mouth was in the fastest first round of the night.
The newly crowned champ made quick work of the reigning champ, as he entered the cage, connecting a devastating left hook and then proceeded to batter the former champ with punches whilst on the mat. Desert Force referee, Yazan Ghattas was forced to stop the fight 25 blistering seconds into the first round.
“As I promised, the Shield stayed in my home country! I knew I had to finish this fight early, Selwady has a super conditioning and going three rounds with him would have been hard. I would like to thank all my family, coaches and teammates at ICON BJJ who helped me get ready, and Custodian of the 2 holly mosques, King Abdulaziz for letting this sport grow.”
The featherweight Champion Aziz Julaidan (3-1) is now the first Saudi Arabian to earn a title in Desert Force .
