February 14th – The Kuwait Open Shidokan-Jitsu tournament, sponsored by Kuwaiti MP Mohammad Huwailah, closed its doors to a successful event as the Sabah Al Salem Judo Federation arena was almost filled to the brim. Also among the attendance were sons of the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Naif Al-Sabah, and senior instructors and heads of martial arts organizations who flew to Kuwait from Russia and America, Bahrain, Egypt, and Kuwait to watch the matches.

The night witnessed the crowning of 6 champions in 6 different weight categories. The fights were conducted in 6 different weight categories each consisting of 8 fighters who had to battle their way to reach the finals. The winners will be representing Kuwait in the upcoming Eurasia championship that will take place in St. Petersburg in Russia.

The rules of the ShidokanJitsu tournament were similar to MMA rules except that the fighters will be wearing a Gi and the fight consists of one ’3 minute’ round. It could be extended to another extra three minutes in case of a draw. In the finals, the fight might be extended to 3 rounds 3 minutes.
