Laid Zerhouni chokes out Niakate at KSW 93

Laid Zerhouni returned to the KSW cage. At KSW 93 he took Boubacar Niakate.

This was KSW’s debut event in France. As a part of the main card, the Algerian fighter faced off against the French.

Laid Zerhouni vs. Boubacar Niakate – fighters’ profiles

Zerhouni is a UAE Warriors and Bellator alumni, who sports a 13 – 8 record. He won his promotional debut fight at KSW 90 by stoping Bartosz Fabiński in just twelve seconds.

Niakate has a 9 – 6 professional MMA record and is a product of the French regional scene. This was his KSW debut.

Zerhouni started with strikes but unexpectedly went for his opponent’s legs. However, Niakate cleverly secured a clinch and reversed the situation. Moments later, it was Boubacar who overwhelmed his opponent with strikes across the cage. Laid Zerhouni once again targeted his opponent’s legs, this time successfully lifting him up and throwing him to the mat. Ground strikes followed. Although Boubacar absorbed several blows, he managed to stand up. Zerhouni cleverly countered his opponent, taking him down and gaining a dominant position. The Algerian fighter attempted an Americana, but it was unsuccessful. Laid Zerhouni switched to ground strikes. Moments later, when Niakate turned around, he quickly secured a rear-naked choke, ending the fight.

After the fight, Zerhouni jumped out of the circular cage and celebrated by high-fiving KSW co-owner, Martin Lewandowski.

As for now Zerhouni is undefeated in KSW and may well be on the path to a title fight. Especially when you take into consideration that he currently enjoys a four-fight winning streak.
