It’s always exciting to see Arab Mixed Martial Arts star Mohammad Ghorabi in action!
Though scheduled for his debut appearance on the Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises fight card in Jordan against Gadzhimusa Gadzhiev, Ghorabi, to the surprise of many spectators, did not make his anticipated walk to the cage.
An official statement by Brave Combat Federation was released on the night, and Ghorabi has shared with us the reasons that forced him to miss the contest.
It appears that Ghorabi made a critical mistake while cutting weight, a mistake that got him hospitalized and ultimately presented with absolutely no choice, but to pull out of the fight.
Here is his official statement:
“I want to be explain the reasons I missed my debut fight at Brave Combat Federation. Initially, everything was going well. I made weight and even attended the public weigh-ins.
The mistake I made was the day before the fight while I was cutting weight. I took a laxative on an empty stomach, which caused me a lot of stomach ache and pain. Also, once you make weight, you should recover by eating carbs. So, I had some carbs and my stomach instantly became rigid. On fight day, as I was warming up, my stomach cramped up. I would go to the toilet every now and then. Of course it was really annoying for me, yet I was ready to fight.
I was scheduled to appear as the 5th fight on the card. On the 2nd fight of the event, I felt a lot of pain and went to see a doctor. He was mainly the one who took the decision and told me that this pain will largely affect my performance on the night. I didn’t want to take any chances, so I was transferred and treated at the hospital.
We told the Brave CF management that I couldn’t fight. Accordingly, they proposed to postpone the bout until the May even taking place in Indonesia.I really invested a lot of myself in preparing for this fight. I had a great training camp and I was really prepared, but this is God’s will. You’ll see me on the 5th. I will fight and I will not make this mistake cutting weight again.”
It’s good to know that this fight is still happening and has not been yet been flushed down the drain. We’ll see if Brave CF will actually decide to rebook this bout for its May event in Indonesia.
