Jordanian fighter Mohammad Khatib talks to ArabsMMA about his professional MMA debut and submission win over Raafat Shawe at Desert Force 20.
Primal Gym’s Khatib (1-0) faced Iraqi opponent Raafat Shawe (3-5) in the opening bout of the event scoring a rare type of bulldog choke submission 1 minute into the second round.
The bulldog choke is a technique that, though historically rare, was effective on several occasions in the UFC. The choke looks like the hybrid of a pro-wrestling headlock and a rear naked choke. Unlike a proper rear naked choke, the bulldog choke doesn’t feature any such body control; rather it follows an old wrestling adage: where the head goes the body will follow. OUCH!
