Yousef Wehbe Vs. Mohammad Triki Confirmed For Desert Force 24

It has finally been announced that Desert Force lightweight champion Mohammad Triki will indeed face Yousef Wehbe for his first title defense at Desert Force 24, while there is a mammoth fight card event in the billing.

Desert Force 24 takes place this September at the IPIC Arena in Abu Dhabi, marking the promotion’s 4th visit to the United Arab Emirates. The main card streams live on MBC Action.

The rumor first broke on last week as the early announcements for the September card started to reveal. Triki comes in after a long hiatus since he dethroned the former champion Tareq Hamdi at Desert Force 16 (March 2015).

Watch it here:

Being a top contender, Triki was given that title shot when he came in as a late replacement for Abdulahad Gari who had sustained a foot injury. The Moroccan made his professional debut at Desert Force when he defeated the more experienced Ahmed Al Boussairy in Bahrain. He then came back to finish Mahmoud Hassan early in the first round in what seemed to be disputable decision. However, Triki’s next performance against Saba settled the score before he proceeded to claim the shield at Desert Force 16. The Moroccan has been missing in action ever since.

His opponent Youssef Wehbe who had a successful debut at Desert Force 18 boasts 3 victories in the promotion, with the latest being a dominant decision victory over the former champion himself Tareq Hamdi. Wehbe had demanded this fight against Hamdi following his TKO win against Jaafar Al Tamimi, the fight which marked his second win in the promotion and put him in good position for title contention.
