After being eyed by multiple local promotions, Mohammed Walid who has been waiting for the right offer to get back in the cage finally gets the chance to take part of the biggest promotion in Asia! Mohammed Walid (3-0) Vs Vaughn Donayre (7-1) has just been confirmed for the already stacked ONE FC: Reign of Champions card, a card which looks to be the best in the promotion’s history.
Filipino Donayre (7-1), fighting out of The Champion Club in Dubai, made his name fighting in the Philippines where he won six straight fights for the URCC to establish himself as the number two lightweight in the country behind only ONE FC title contender Eduard Folayang.
On the other hand, Walid who is also based in Dubai comes undefeated at 3-0. The Syrian fighter is the reigning Dubai FC welterweight champion and has finished every opponent he has faced since making his pro debut in 2012.
Walid comes from a famous fighting family as his brother, Khaled Walid, is a pro MMA fighter with a record of 2-0 holding a brown belt in BJJ and a black belt in Karate and trains with Mohammed at the Kholoud Club that is run by their father.
Reign of Champions, which is set on August 29 at the World Trade Centre in Dubai will be headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Nobutatsu Suzuki and challenger Ben Askren.
The co-main event will also be a title match with Shinya Aoki defending his 155-pound strap against Kamal Shalorus. Featherweight champion Koji Oishi is also slated to face off against Eric Kelly, provided the Filipino recovers from the injuries sustained in his most recent bout.
