Phoenix 1 kicks off in Lebanon on December 10th and they have announced another exciting battle to take place on their MMA card, Pavel Kusch vs Christophe Van Dijck. The event is headlined by a title fight pitting BJJ standout Davi Ramos Vs Nick Piedmont of Alliance MMA.
Little do the fans outside of Ukraine know Pavel Kusch (21-4), but that could all change. The 6,0 ft Combat Dobro Welterweight has been choking, bending, breaking and hyper extending limbs for years. During his seven year professional career, he has amassed a stunning 19 submissions from 21 victories. In his last two fights, he broke the mold and decide to knock his opponents out in the first round.
If Kusch has developed a half decent box of tricks in the striking department, this man could be a threat to anyone! He hasn’t lost in nearly three years, and it’s no wonder Phoenix Fighting Championship has handpicked him. Pavel Kusch has a marvelous array of submissions, and he has no particular preference. He will take you down, sniff out your weak spot and exploit it. Whether it’s an Armbar, Heel Hook, Triangle Choke, Omoplata – the list goes on, he has every trick in the book. His last fight was in China at Rebel FC4 and he won via TKO proving that he’s not just a submission artist.
Kusch will be looking to seize the opportunity given to him by Phoenix FC. This won’t be easy as he faces a huge step up in competition in Christophe Van Dijck (7-2).
Van Dijck has been fighting all over the world during his professional career. This trip to Lebanon for Phoenix Fighting Championship will not faze him. The Combat also rises to the occasion and in his first outing for ONE FC he annihilated the previously undefeated Dwayne Hinds. In little over two minutes, with a crafty judo toss he immediately transition and positions himself in full mount. He is a decorated Judoka who possesses some slick submissions, and his ability to throw his opponents to the ground make him a danger at all times.
This is a fascinating bout between two men who are very well versed on the ground. Each will be looking to impose their deadly arsenal of submissions upon each-other.
