It’s a depressingly recurring theme in MMA championships, as each time your favorite fighter is announced for a card you begin the breath-holding countdown to arrival. But, no matter how many prayers you send upstairs, how many blood sacrifices you make, inevitably somebody is going to get hurt.
ArabsMMA has learned that Team Shogun’s Ramy Hamed has suffered an injury and will not be able to compete on this month’s Desert Force 23 fight-card in Lebanon. Hamed was set to face Jarrah Al Selawi in what was supposed to serve as one of Desert Force’s most exciting match-ups to date.
Team Shogun’s manager has expressed his dismay on the incident on his Facebook profile, asking Jarrah to take the fight again in September.
Louai Kiblawi:
We were all awaiting the Ramy Hamed vs Jarrah el Silawi fight to happen. Unfortunately ramy will not be able to compete on this card due to a severe injury which takes around 2 months of recovery. I personally believed that this fight wouldn’t go to distance and was going to be one of the most exciting fights in desert force history. I hope Desert Force management would give our champ Jarrah to fight in September. Ramy trained hard for this one but that’s part of the game. Sh*t happens! Good luck Jarrah in whoever you will be fighting. We hope you will put a good show and take the fight in September.
Ramy Hamed rides a three win streak in Desert Force’s toughest division, 77Kg. “The Russian” finished the three of his fights in the first round, the latest being at Desert Force 18 against Soufien Oudina by way of TKO. Yet this win came at a heavy price, an injury that kept the Lebanese fighter on the sidelines for a little while. And now, less than 3 weeks before his scheduled fight, injury struck him again.
No official replacement has been announced yet for Jarrah. Stay tuned to ArabsMMA.com for more updates as they become available.
