Riding a three-fight win streak and holding the first Desert Force featherweight title is Abdul Kareem Al Selwady from Team Mirza of Jordan. He will look to defend the Desert Force featherweight title on March 7 for the first time in the history of Arab MMA.
Desert Force promoter Mohammed Mirza mentioned ArabsMMA.com on MBC action that Al Selwady will headline Desert Force in Manama, Bahrain yet without specifying if its a five-round contest with Aziz Julaidan.
The Champ Al Selwady (3-0) racked up three consecutive wins earning him the Shield which he will defend for the first time in Bahrain. Following stoppage victories over Nour el Dine Issam and Ahmad Ansari, Abdulkareem knocked out Yousef Alhamad to claim the 145-pound title.
Aziz Julaidan (3-2) made his Desert Force debut as a lightweight losing to Mohammad Arti in the most controversial decision in 2012. Aziz then dropped down to featherweight and earned 2 wins including a first-round submission victory over Ahmad Darmaki at Desert Force Grand Prix semi finals and a unanimous decision win over Ramadan Nuuman.
Unlike other divisions with many possible challengers, Julaidan Vs Alselwady is a prefect fit for a title fight match up. Those of you who have seen them in the cage knows that they are very similar on paper. Striking wise, both have shown impressive skills with an edge for Abdelkareem. On the ground, Julaidan holds a sole submission victory with non for the champ.
If Al Selwady reigns victorious, I don’t see anyone in his division that can be of a threat to him. He will reign for a while to come. But Julaidan has been after this shield since day one , and will not let this opportunity slip right in front of him! Come March 7 and let’s set the record straight!
