Bahrain – His Highness Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended his Amateur Mixed Martial Arts record and continued his winning start to life in the MMA battlefield with a unanimous decision win over Manish Surender at the Fight Night II “Bahrain Vs. India” amateur championship held in Bahrain.
The humble sheikh went into Thursday night’s main event with his brother H.H. Shaikh Nassir supporting him in his corner. He competed alongside 33 other athletes from India and Bahrain including fresh faces from KHK MMA fight team.
Shaikh Khalid controlled the opening round of the fight, peppering Manish with left/right combinations and landing powerful hooks to the temple. His highness secured a takedown which guaranteed him the first round. Shaikh Khalid started the second with a similar strategy, constantly pressuring and moving forward, landing that hard left hook which gave him a visible edge on his opponent. Manish was unsuccessful in taking his highness down on different occasions, Shaikh Khalid finished the second round on top.
In the third round India’s Manish Surender looked more comfortable, connecting with a hard body kick. His highness brushed it off, smartly circulating around the cage to recover. That kick acted as a wake up call which brought Shaikh Khalid back at full throttle to finish the third round as the attacker.
After three rounds of Amateur MMA, the judges scored the fight and declared H.H Shaikh Khalid the winner via Unanimous Decision.
