The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first trip to Singapore will feature a substitute headliner, as Hyun Gyu Lim is replacing an injured Jake Ellenberger against Tarec Saffiedine on the 4th of January. Following this change, Lim’s original opponent Kiichi Kunimoto now takes on Luiz Dutra Junior.
Unbeaten inside the Octagon, Lim (12-3-1) has looked impressive inside the cage. A former Pacific Xtreme Combat welterweight champion, “The Ace” stopped Pascal Krauss and Marcelo Guimaraes with knees and punches in his UFC bouts earlier this year.
Saffiedine earned the Strikeforce welterweight belt in his most recent outing, extending his winning streak to 4 fights by thoroughly outpointing Nate Marquardt at Strikeforce’s final show this past January. Saffiedine was then expected to make his Octagon debut on July 27 at UFC on Fox 8, but he was forced to withdraw from that booking due to injury.
