KHK MMA fighters representing the Bahrain National Team secured gold and three bronze medals at the 2017 IMMAF Asian Open Championships in Singapore. Hussain Abdulla, Nayef Fikri and Abbas Khan had won bronze medals in their respective categories while Abdulmanap Magomedov has secured the gold medal. Yousif Al Kooheji, Mohammed Saad and Eldar Eldarov were accompanying the team as key officials representing Bahrain.
Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) is an initiative under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to popularise the sport of mixed martial arts and to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth. With multiple victories in mixed martial arts events, Bahrain has gained global attention as an emerging hub for combat sports.

Alongside Bahrain, Team Lebanon has also managed to secure a gold, a silver, and a bronze. The two nations will meet again when the IMMAF championships head to Bahrain this November.
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the fourth edition of the IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA, in November 2017. Bahrain will be the only nation other than the United States of America to host the World Championships of Amateur MMA. World Championships will feature amateur mixed martial artists from around the world competing at the most recognised championship supported by premium fight promotions.
