The Ultimate Fighting Championship kicked off its Singapore fight week with the inaugural International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Asian Open Championships. Taking place at the Marina Bay Sands from June 12-16, the 2017 IMMAF Asian Open Championships saw 66 amateur fighters from 16 countries vie for the inaugural title.
For Team Lebanon, four glorious competition days concluded with Imad Hoayek earning gold, Alexander Chaddad a silver, and a bronze for Roland Yaacoubian.
After edging out Kazaki Kudaibergen Toleubayev in the semi-finals, Hoayek proceeded to the finals to earn a joyful victory against Swedish Anton Turkalj. The IMMAF podium is no stranger to the Team Lebanon’s Hoayek who had previously secured bronze at the 2015 IMMAF World and European championships.
The semi-finals also saw heavyweight standout Alexander Chaddad put a show as he battered India’s Vishal Surendra Bhardwaj for a spectacular first round TKO victory.
The 2017 IMMAF Asian Open Championships form part of UFC Fight Night Singapore’s week long fan activities leading up to its highly anticipated live event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium tonight [Saturday June 17 2017].
