Despite the ban on the local competition of mixed martial arts in Lebanon by the Lebanese Minister of Youth and Sports, it’s great to see Lebanese athletes taking the initiative to actively put their country yet again on the international map of martial arts.
Headed by the former Lebanese Mixed Martial Arts Committee President, Mr. Hicham Boustani, Team Lebanon is off to compete in a several martial arts competition, the ‘World Mixed Martial Arts Cup’ taking place at Sports Center “BANJICA”, Belgrade, Serbia from Nov.3 till Nov.6.
Team Lebanon consists of fighters and athletes who will compete in Combat Wrestling and Amateur mixed martial arts. The Combat Wrestling team is comprised of Atos Lebanon head coach, Daniel Hilal, former MMA fighter Elias Baaklini and Atos Lebanon competition team members, Toubia Farrah and Georges Salem who will both compete in this no-gi grappling tournament.
Coached by Elias Baaklini, a professional mixed martial arts fighter who has appeared multiple times on Desert Force, as well as Judo blackbelt Robert Hosry, the Lebanese mixed martial arts team is made up of the promising welterweight amateur fighter Anthony Zeidan, as well as the young and upcoming lightweight, Adon Ayoub.
Lebanon always had some of the most talented, most likeable and definitely the most entertaining fighters in the region, many of whom have participated and won high level worldwide tournament, and who have all the favorable potential of becoming top, A class internationally recognized fighters.
The World MMA Cup will begin on the 3rd of November 2017. We wish team Lebanon the best in their upcoming combat endeavor ahead.
